For the first week of December, London is preparing for the holiday season by decorating a Christmas tree, ordered to be planted by the Empress herself. After unlocking the Storylet, players can spend actions tending to the tree. Every action increases Arborist's Gratitude, a penny-equivalent reward quality in exchanges with The Lachrymose Arborist, as well as contributing to the balance of two World Qualities. Tree Husbandry

The available actions depend on The Airs of London. The reward of Arborist's Gratitude appears to follow these rules:

• The baseline Gratitude depends on your primary stats, with an as-yet-unknown formula.
• Actions that consume items convert them to additional Gratitude at their face value.
• The actions with incredibly narrow Airs ranges give additional Gratitude for free.
• Failing a stat challenge gives 7/12 of the regular reward.

The "rare" airs actions give the best EPA, although the actions that consume items give higher Gratitude per action. The difference matters if one is targeting specific rewards rather than general EPA.

You can exchange Arborist's Gratitude for rewards with The Lachrymose Arborist. Each point of 1x Arborist's Gratitude is equal to 1x Penny for all trades, but the last two rewards can be turned in to the Bone Market and the Rat Market respectively for additional profit. Dreadful Surmises are also useful to have around Christmas, as you can use it to Feed it to a Wild Boar.
