there's a recurring theme i've noticed in the fandoms i am most captivated by, the fandoms that continually drag me back to the well of fic for yet another dive. and it's that all the works are very adept at weaving together open-ended vignettes, that offer just enough detail to paint the outlines of a world in a satisfactory and compelling manner, but leave the rest free for the reader to construct themselves. and the seventh city is the newest on the pile. these little glimpses feel so much like the little slices of post-true-pacifist surface-life that we get in undertale. it feels like they serve similar purposes, narratively
