This content is only available during Feast of the Exceptional Rose!
For the history of this holiday see Feast of the Exceptional Rose (historical) |
Feast of the Rose has two general source of items: the first is from gifts given to other players (which can also be given to yourself by sending and then cancelling!), which can then be traded for Masquing, and then
Masquing can be traded for companions. Several of the gifts are useful in their own right, and both gifts and companions can cost FATE. This list will help players explore their options.
Items Sorted by Stats[edit]
Note that these tables follow the following format: strict BIS is bold, shared BIS is italic, and stats which are neither but are nonetheless notable will be in regular case. Stats which are none of the above have been omitted for ease of perusal.
Best In Slot[edit]
These items are the strict best in slot for one or more stats.
Situational Best in Slot[edit]
For a subset of players, these items are the best available options for their slot. This may be because the alternatives are only available at other festivals, are only obtainable with certain Ambitions, cost FATE, etc.
Perennial Peer Items[edit]
These items have peer items freely available at all times of year, though they may be difficult to acquire or require completion of a lengthy storyline.

Early-Game Utility[edit]

Items Sorted by Use[edit]
We're not counting the use of rose-gifts to gain Masquing, only their uses outside of this festival.

These items unlock repeatable options that are much better than their evergreen alternatives.

Rose-gift for ![]() |
Attach it to a skeleton in the Bone Market; this consumes the Skull and gains ![]() |
The Engraved Skull is highly action-efficient for generating Exhaustion, effectively giving For players with a Railway, the Skull is more niche, as ![]() If you wanted to use solely Engraved Skulls to fund Exhaustion for a year, you would need 104 of them, costing a total of ![]() |

The Salon option shares Airs with the Lyrebird and Duchess options. In the Laboratory, Lettice's expertise is somewhat niche, but she can provide a fair amount of research even outside of that as long as your lab has been upgraded enough. |

These items unlock a one-time option that saves the player significant resources compared to the free alternatives.

A Matter of Mortality with the Loquacious Vicar | You can also buy them on that storylet for 50 FATE. Given how incredibly early of a storylet that is, it's not likely that you'll be using them for it, and the story can also be advanced with a trivial ![]() |
No Uses[edit]
These items do not unlock any additional actions.
Feast of the Rose Spouses[edit]
Several Feast companions can be married, and the final quest upgrades to these are often quite powerful. As each player can only have one Spouse[1], most of these options are not of interest to most players, and so are discussed here instead.
HALLOWMAS Upgrades[edit]
Every year some of the companions added at the Feast of the Rose get upgrades at that year's Hallowmas. It's difficult to say if or when these will be available for free again, however, and previous years' Hallowmas upgrades can be purchased with FATE without needing the base item. For ease of reference, this table presents all of the Feast companions which can be upgraded at Hallowmas. More details on these can be found at Hallowmas (Guide)/Item Comparison.
Hallowmas variants usually have much better stats than their original form, and may gain one or two new uses besides.
- ↑ Depending on your definition of "have", "one", and "spouse".
