This guide covers the Premium Story The Pale Tabernacle. Overview[edit]
Once unlocked from the storylet on Mutton Island during the Fruits of the Zee Festival, the story is told through three gold-bordered cards drawn while zailing the Unterzee. Actions on the cards raise
Traces of the Tabernacle which can be cashed out as
Mortification of a Great Power,
Muscaria Brandy, and
Palimpsest Scrap after completing an unlockable plot.
A fourth card, of Infrequent Frequency, raises
Tracking the Pale Tabernacle to 1 which unlocks this plot. Completing the Plot allows you to zail to the Pale Tabernacle yourself, once. This cannot be drawn again, nor the plot restarted, until you have visited the Pale Tabernacle.
Cards[edit]
All options raise
Zailing... (with one exception) and
Traces of the Tabernacle. Most raise troubled waters, even on a success. The three standard cards each have advanced skill checks (with the standard location-dependent challenge level), which offer 450
Traces. There are alternative options with easier or no challenges that pay out 400 instead. One unusual option is challengeless, doesn't increase
Zailing... and only pays out 350
Traces of the Tabernacle, but it also gives a
Vision of the Surface to compensate.
The fourth card can only be drawn when
Tracking the Pale Tabernacle is 0.
Cashing Out[edit]
Using a
Nautical Agent to complete the plot takes 300 actions. It has
Exploration and
Watchful challenges. It pays out 3900
Traces of the Tabernacle on success or 3500
Traces of the Tabernacle on failure.
Succeeding the plot unlocks an option at your cabin to zail to a new location in a randomised area of the Zee. Arriving allows you to cash out
Traces of the Tabernacle for
Mortifications of a Great Power,
Muscaria Brandy, and
Palimpsest Scraps at a rate of 1 trace to 1 penny value, prioritising the higher value items. The first visit gives a bonus of roughly 65E.
Each visit to the Pale Tabernacle increases
Upon Pale Shores by 1. Raising
Upon Pale Shores progressively unlocks new options to talk to the Tabernacle's inhabitant(s) for lore, until
Upon Pale Shores 5, when you get the final lore drop,
Upon Pale Shores 7, and a
Reported Location of a One-Time Prince of Hell.
Upon Pale Shores does not rise beyond 7.
