Once you have built your Railway all the way to the Hurlers (second-to-last station), you can follow the storyline there to learn more about Discordant Law, acquire an Unburdened Imp (one of the Steward of the Discordance Items), and enable Discordant Ripples, which give you beneficial, zero-action opportunity cards in London.

Preparations

You should acquire

• at least 15 A Scholar of the Correspondence
• Watchful equipment with negative Bonus, especially Talkative Rattus Faber from the bazaar
• 1x Crystallised Euphoria (from your Station VIII laboratory and then playing Station VIII: A Courier's Meeting back in London, followed by Extract concentrated sentiment from the Obliviscere Mori back in Station VIII lab)
• 3000x Drop of Prisoner's Honey
• 150x Hinterland Scrip
• 77x Correspondence Plaque
• About 15x any of these materials, which you can freely combine:
  • 25x Maniac's Prayer (worth 2x Frigid Intuition)
  • 2x Volume of Collated Research (worth 3x Frigid Intuition)
  • 14x Correspondence Plaque (worth 4x Frigid Intuition)
  • Memory of Discordance (worth 6x Frigid Intuition, though I recommend not using that option, since those memories don't have easily repeatable sources).

Progress at The Hurlers

• Speak with the Disembarking Deviless
• At Offices of the Tracklayer's Union: Hurlers Branch, play
  • Provide funding for the Disembarked Deviless (costs 50x Hinterland Scrip)
  • Reinforce the potbelly stove (costs 100x Hinterland Scrip and 77x Correspondence Plaque)
  • Repeat Light some candles at the stove until you have raised Hurlers: Darkness to 7 (gives some Foxfire Candle Stubs)
• At The Hurlers, play Travel to the encampment, and there Prepare for an excavation spend some of your resources for Frigid Intuition until you have about 15. Also Speak with the Caprine Vagabond and Discuss the Hurlers, which gives you your first level of Crystalline Knowledge.
• Return to the station, then at The Hurlers Walk further into the inhospitable wastes.
  • Repeat Locate a spot to dig in the wastes, which you want to FAIL. Unequip everything that gives you a positive Watchful bonus, and equip everything that reduces your Watchful. This gives you Crystallised Curio. In total, you need 66 Curio; you will need to to several trips to the encampment to stock up on Intuition to turn into Curio.
  • At the main railway station The Hurlers, speak to the deviless, give her first 11, then 22, then 33 Curio.
