For instance, having a Secret College is helpful, and being a Correspondent with a high Scholar of the Correspondence level can be quite helpful. Because cards are undiscardable, the laboratory is harder to control.

Investigating Impossible Theorems

Requirements:

• Either completed Ambition and laboratory services from respective assistant or Laboratory Services from a Visionary Student

Steps:

• Research an Impossible Theorem - 1 action.
• Generate 13000 Laboratory Research with Use what you know of the unknowable - number of actions depends on Artisan of the Red Science level. 10 takes 482 actions, 11 takes 449 actions, 12 takes 434 actions, 13 takes 420 actions, 14 takes 407 actions, 15-16 takes 394 actions, 17-20 takes 383 actions. whatever means necessary
• Have a firm conversation with the Freeloading Artist and Enter the mirror - 1.8 actions, since leftover Honey can be used in further experiments.
  • this is not explicitly necessary if you are keeping the artist around through the whole experiment - you *will* draw his card. a lot. in fact, considering his card is a <2.5 EPA grind, it's better to get his honey first and then kick him out - which means we do not, in fact, have him still when we enter parabola.
• Generate 300 Parabolan Research with either your Ambition assistant (April takes 25 actions, Cora Bagley takes 22 actions, Esurient Smith or Hephaesta take 15 actions) or Visionary Student (takes 22 actions and generates 22 CP Nightmares).
  • this might be easier with getting an initial boost of ParabResearch
  • or consulting mirrors? How does consulting mirrors compare research-wise/nightmare-wise against jumping through the mirror?
  • if I don't have the artist in this scenario, is using 21*(14 from Visionary student) = 294 + 7 from ...anyone but Meticolous student better? (1 actions more, but 1 Nightmares CP less)
  • it might actually be better to hire the Urchin for this part, with his 12 PR/A, but no Nightmares, and whatever chance of failure we have in this scenario, depending on Dangerous. costs 2 actions more, though
• Hide in your Base-Camp - with 75% at Dangerous 250, on average it takes 4 actions and gives 1 CP Wounds to remove 11 CP Nightmares. Removing Nightmares from the final step (assuming repeated experiments) takes 1.45 actions and gives 0.36 CP Wounds, while using Visionary Student adds 8 actions and 2 CP.
• Sneak away from your wounds - 0.12/0.78 actions to remove 0.36/2.36 CP Wounds.
  • check: if I do not mirror-jump, is it cheaper maybe to farm the nightmares off by other means in London?

• Either completed Ambition and laboratory services from respective assistant or Laboratory Services from a Visionary Student, Parabolan Defences 3, Dangerous 250 and Glasswork 10

Steps:

• Study the properties of Attar - 1 action.
• Generate 450 Laboratory Research with Apply your chemical knowledge - number of actions depends on Kataleptic Toxicology level. 10 takes 17 actions, 11 takes 16 actions, 12-14 takes 15 actions, 15-20 takes 14 actions.
• Have a firm conversation with the Freeloading Artist and Enter the mirror - 1.8 actions, since leftover Honey can be used in further experiments.
• Generate 15 Parabolan Research with either your Ambition assistant (April or Cora Bagley take 2 actions, Esurient Smith or Hephaesta take 1 action) or Visionary Student (takes 2 actions and generates 2 CP Nightmares). Assuming menace removal as outlined in Impossible Theorem grind, removing 2 CP Nightmares takes 0.785 actions.
• Conclude your study of Attar - 1 action.

At 275 (75% chance) and 7, it will produce 26 on success and 22 on a failure, averaging to 25 per action and 73 total actions. At 275 and fate-locked level 9, it it will produce 30 on success and 26 on a failure, averaging to 29 per action and 62.93 total actions. At 330 (90% chance) and 7, it will produce 26 on success and 22 on a failure, averaging to 25.6 per action and 71.28 total actions. At 275 and fate-locked level 9, it it will produce 30 on success and 26 on a failure, averaging to 29.6 per action and 61.65 total actions.

Creating Cartographer's Hoards

Requires having completed Ambition: Light Fingers!

Having Hephaesta work with a level 5 Visionary Student gives 26 x Laboratory Research on Success and 24 x Laboratory Research on failure which averages out at roughly 2.84 EPA.

Of course using an Fate upgraded lab is better here getting you roughly 3.28 EPA. Having the Stoic Classicist teach students also slightly improves this grind.
