You're the first person mentioning any problems with contrast (I've also posted this over at reddit prior to changing it and got a lot of positive feedback). These are pretty much the same colours that Failbetter use on the new website (I made the text a teeny tiny bit lighter, it's a very dark grey instead of black because - in my opinion - it's easier to read this way.)
Are the colours on your computer the same as in the screenshot I posted above? (Just checking if there is an issue with the colour palette.)
