Considering that I personally did almost everything of note regarding the railroad more complicated than carrying an I beam and setting it down, payed for it all with my own money, built "their" entire city completely out of my own pocket as well, and they're still sneering at me as if all I did was sit in a chair and collect money for other peoples work? I figure I'm just not Communist enough for this specific union to accept me. They owe me for everything they have and they know it.

And yes, we the player ARE forced to do it. The quality is a requirement for an in-game achievement. You know we like collecting all of our shinies. At least it's not too bad of a grind.
