Long ago, during my early days in this wonderful city of ours, I was quite hesitant to commit to a lodging. While this has passend, in part so as to satisfy our Ambitious friend, I have learned much from this time. For example, even without having lodgings:

You can have your lodgings overrun by rats. You can have your lodgings broken into. You can return to your lodgings, when waking from a Nightmare. You can arrive at your lodgings, when returning from the Tomb-Colonies. Sadly, I cannot help you with your original question. I do not remember any difficulties with visiting the Bazaar, but in those days I also had far less reason to visit.
