I'll just throw in my two cents that I think the "history" in reference here is personal, not grand. My pet theory is this item is foreshadowing the ability to replay/play other Ambitions, possibly through Parabola. That is one of the few planned bits from Metempsychosis that still isn't in the game in any form.
