== Whitsun 1898 (2020) ==
This was the year of the first Whitsun. It was announced [https://discord.com/channels/606151996663267338/606155678968578135/704326655866568815 on the 27th of April], and took place from the 11th to the 22nd of May.

At [[Ask what's going on (1898)|the start of the festival]], players received {{IL|Amber Ha'penny|x 3}} and could purchase more for {{FontFate}}. Apart from being used on directly egg-based options, these could be spent on a {{IL|Highly Illegal Experimental Augmentation Device (Probably)}} - 5 Ha'pennies could buy one either [[Acquire a Highly-Illegal Experimental Egg Augmentation Device|for yourself]] or [[Divert an Iron and Misery Crate to a Friend|for a friend]] - or on {{IL|A Permanent Arrangement with the Numismatrix|Appearance = acquiring the Numismatrix's laboratory services more permanently}}, for 3 Ha'pennies.

After a lengthy absence, [[De Gustibus]] [[De Gustibus in Whitsun|returned]]. It was no longer possible to offer them [[Lacre|So-Called Snow]], [[A hissing finale!|So-Called Snow and a Silent Soul]] or [[Offer an ornamental centrepiece|A River in a Box]], but it was still possible to [[...would they dare?|trade]] a {{IL|Vial of Masters' Blood}} for {{IL|A Sealed Copy of the Crimson Book}}, making it once more possible to obtain this item. Options were added to offer them various eggs, or a [[Offer your Forty-Nine-Voiced Warbler|Forty-Nine_Voiced Warbler]]; giving the Warbler removed all {{IL|Favours: Fingerkings}} and {{IL|Favours: Society}} as well as conferring some menaces, but it also gave a vanity quality ({{IL|Caused a Scene at the Apicius Club}}) so naturally many people did it anyway.

Players could purchase {{IL|Aged Egg, Untreated|Appearance = Aged Eggs}} and {{IL|Scarlet Egg, Untreated|Appearance = Scarlet Eggs}} from the [[The Reliable Eggmonger (1898)]], then either [[Enlightening Treatment|enlighten]] or [[Invigorating Treatment|invigorate]] it - or simply leave it untreated. They could then do a number of different things with it;

* Fully invigorated or enlightened eggs could be [[Augment Upon An Egg|augmented]] 0-2 times without the {{IL|Highly Illegal Experimental Augmentation Device (Probably)|Appearance = Augmentation Device}}, and 0-3 times with it, then [[Wrap it up warm and wait|incubated]] for 24 hours (or [[Hire a Rubbery Nurse to speed up the hatching|incubated]] [[Refuse to recognise the inexorability of time|instantly]] for either {{IL|Amber Ha'penny|x 1}} or 10 {{FontFate}}) to produce an animal [[Companion]]. Each combination of egg, treatment and number of augments would produce a different companion, for a total of 16.

* Fully invigorated or enlightened eggs could also be sent to other players at a cost of {{IL|Amber Ha'penny|x 1}}, causing it to instantly hatch into one of four animal [[Companion|Companions]], or given to an [[A Tailor's Augmentation|infernal tailor]] to be made into one of four items of clothing at a cost of {{IL|Amber Ha'penny|x 3}}.

* Eggs could be [[Bring Up your Egg#Breaking Eggs|smashed]] for a variety of rewards. At the time, this was the only source of the new items {{IL|Human Arm}}, {{IL|Headless Skeleton}} and {{IL|Tailfeather Brilliant as Flame}}, as well as being a new source for the then-unobtainable {{IL|A Monstrous Orb}}.

* Eggs could be given to [[De Gustibus in Whitsun#Offer Eggs:|the Apicius Club]] for a variety of rewards. Most notably, selling fully invigorated or enlightened eggs gave a substantial amount of {{IL|Making Waves}}; [https://discord.com/channels/606151996663267338/606155678968578135/710432392288141342 it was revealed] that this was a deliberate design choice to allow those attempting to get enough {{IL|Notability}} to become {{IL|Paramount Presence of the Ancient Regime|Paramount Presences of the Ancient Regime}} before the cutoff on June 3rd to participate in the festival without feeling they were wasting valuable time.

* Eggs could be [[Begin a Scientific Investigation#Whitsun|studied]] in the laboratory, giving material rewards and 1 CP in either {{IL|Shapeling Arts}} (Scarlet) or {{IL|Artisan of the Red Science}} (Aged). At the time, this was the only non-Ambition method of raising {{IL|Artisan of the Red Science}}.

* Eggs could be used in [[Sinning Jenny's Finishing School]] ({{FontFate}}) to obtain {{IL|Dark-Carapaced Crustacean|Appearance = Dark-Carapaced}} and {{IL|Gilded Crustacean|Appearance = Gilded Crustaceans}}. As Gilded Crustaceans had previously only been available for a [[...a fading wash of sunlight?|very brief period]] at the end of [[Feast of the Exceptional Rose (historical)#Feast of the Exceptional Rose 2013|2013's Feast of the Exceptional Rose]], this understandably generated a great deal of excitement.

* Eggs could be sold in the {{IL|The Bone Market}} for {{IL|Bessemer Steel Ingot}} and {{IL|Nightsoil of the Bazaar}}; this was by a significant margin the best method for obtaining these items at the time.

Various options throughout the festival allowed you to gain {{IL|Speculation about Whitsun}}; enough of this allowed players with a newspaper to [[Publish a Whitsun Edition]].

The options to purchase new eggs were removed [https://discord.com/channels/606151996663267338/606155678968578135/712962934980083762 at around 11AM UTC on the 22nd], and all unhatched eggs were removed at the same time on the 25th.

== Whitsun 1899 (2021) ==
Whitsun [https://discord.com/channels/606151996663267338/606155678968578135/841268503117168670 began on the 10th of May]; originally it was meant to end on the May 21st, but [https://discord.com/channels/606151996663267338/606155678968578135/841673087435014155 due to server issues it was extended by three days].

A new egg was added (the {{IL|Percipient Egg, Untreated|Appearance = Percipient Egg}}), with a corresponding 10 [[Companion|Companions]] - eight hatched normally and two via social actions - and two new items of clothing. Smashing open a [[Smash open your partially enlightened egg (Percipient)|partially enlightened Percipient Egg]] was the only source of the new item {{IL|Obsidian Chitin Tail}}. Purchasing the {{IL|Scarlet Egg, Untreated|Appearance = Scarlet Egg}} now cost {{IL|Amber Ha'penny|x 1}}; breaking open the egg would refund the Ha'penny.

Selling enlightened or invigorated eggs to [[De Gustibus in Whitsun|the Apicius Club]] now increased {{IL|De Gustibus: Eggxhaustion}}, which prevented you selling more than two such eggs to them over the course of the event. The reward for selling Aged Eggs at the Bone Market was decreased from {{IL|Bessemer Steel Ingot|x 40}} to {{IL|Bessemer Steel Ingot|x 10}}.

The options to buy eggs closed at [https://discord.com/channels/606151996663267338/606155678968578135/846344666827849748 about 12 noon UTC] on May 24th, and unhatched eggs were removed at about 8AM UTC on the 27th.

==Whitsun 2022==
Whitsun [https://www.failbettergames.com/news/fl-roadmap-april-2022 will run from 9th May - 20th May], and will feature a new egg type, the {{IL|Pelagic Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Pelagic Egg}}. {{IL|Aged Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Aged Eggs}} and {{IL|Percipient Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Percipient Eggs}} will cost {{IL|Amber Ha'penny|x 1}}; the available eggs will rotate each year.

It became possible to give up to {{IL|Hellworm Milk|2 x}} to a Questionable Cheesemonger, to be aged over a real-life year and collected the next Whitsun.

==Whitsun 1899 (2023)==
Whitsun [https://www.failbettergames.com/news/whitsun-2023-is-here ran from 11th May - 22nd May].

It featured a new kind of augment, the {{IL|Bellic Augmentation}}, which produced weapons. This year only invigorated eggs could receive this augment, but the initial announcement confirmed that it would be available for enlightened eggs as well the next year. The {{IL|Aged Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Aged}} and {{IL|Percipient Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Percipient Eggs}} were once again available without spending Ha'pennies.

This year was also the first opportunity for those who had entrusted {{IL|Hellworm Milk}} to the Questionable Cheesemonger to receive the fruits of their labour - a {{IL|Ripened Wheel of Hellworm Cheese}}, which could be offered to the Apicius Society once. It was also possible to offer a {{IL|Noman}} to the Apicius Club if you'd managed to keep one alive that long, gaining the vanity item {{IL|Memories of a Doubled Spring}}.

==Whitsun 1899 (2024)==
Whitsun [https://www.failbettergames.com/news/whitsun-2024-is-here ran from 9th May - 20th May].

The {{IL|Bellic Augmentation}} could be applied to enlightened as well as invigorated eggs. The {{IL|Pelagic Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Pelagic}} and {{IL|Scarlet Egg, Untreated|Appearance=Scarlet Eggs}} were available without spending Ha'pennies.

This year, the Summer Nursery, an activity available for any player who hatched at least one egg, was introduced, costing 20 {{FontFate}}. Access had to be purchased during the event via [[The Summer Nursery: An Invitation]], but the activity can be played year-round.
