Levels
Airs of Godfall
0 – 18An albatross keens, high above the island.
20 – 29A surprising number of chambers are undisturbed, left just as they were following the stalactite's fall.
30 – 39The tunnel walls flex, contract, then unclench again.
40 – 49The zee's relentless crash is a dull drone from here.
50 – 59The floor is pocked with little buds that taste the pilgrims as they pass.
60 – 68Amber. Endless amber dews the walls.
71 – 79The distant breathing of the island hitches, then continues.
81 – 99Salt crystalises in the depths, an inevitable reversion.
100 – 119The brothers grow restless.
120 – 139A hand reaches up from the ground. Closer inspection reveals it to be cast in amber.
143 – 158The Abbot-Commander orders a crate of his personal label brought up from the cellar. It must be a special occasion.
160 – 179The air here is heady like wine, but chokes those who breathe too deeply.
181 – 199In the depths, a monk carries a crate, clanking with every step. He must be desperate, to delve so deep alone.
201 – 219A solitary eye, set high in a cliff, watches the zee.
220 – 237In the Shaping Chambers, something weeps.
240 – 259Monks cheer and wassail as the bell rings for Matins.
261 – 279Two monks lament the shuttering of the winery. Their dreams have not been the same.
280 – 299On a distant ship, a merchant eyes the island warily. She doesn't stop here anymore.
300 – 319A stale smell. Old fish and too much salt.
320 – 339Somewhere above, the Abbot-Commander cracks his many knuckles.
340 – 359The monks decorate their buildings with twisted figures. They don't call them 'grotesques' anymore. They're 'divinities' now.
360 – 377A bloody-fisted monk takes his brother by the hand and hauls him up from the dirt.
380 – 400A great pair of lungs, suspended in a chamber, pull water into the island from the zee.
500The air clears. The island is quiet.
