Level Change Descriptions[edit]

  • 1-9: A clangour of bells. The bat is moving in the belfry.
  • 10-19: The sweet harmony of a children's choir. The sounds of 'Abide with me; fast falls the eventide' drifts from the choir like dust motes in sunlight.
  • 20-29: A sweep is clearing away the fake flowers from a wedding that took place on Sunday. The groom's family had put too much money in to move the date.
  • 30-39: Flower-arrangers gossip at the altar. Their voices carry in the hush. The things they've overheard! The things they say!
  • 40-49: A cart rattles by containing new hymnals for the next liturgical season. The air is filled with a sense of anticipatory renewal.
  • 50-59: Elderly parishioners linger in the transept. They hope to ambush the Vicar, like fans waiting beside the stage door.
  • 60-69: A young deacon conducts today's service. The Vicar's sister is visiting. Parishioners watch the young man from the pews, alert for any misstep.
  • 70-79: An elderly man sits quietly in a pew. There are no services today. He sits in contemplation of a scene of the Resurrection, Christ returning from the tomb.
  • 80-89: A society of antiquarians have discovered the brasswork in the side-chapel. Excited coos disturb the hushed quiet.
  • 90-99: Dark wings alight from the belltower. A collective sigh of relief runs through the parishioners. The Vicar opens the vestry for drinks.
  • 100: Candles flicker in the dark. The annual memorial service for those lost in the Fall is about to begin.
