You can see it in the sidebar, actually: abilities with Change Points have a progress bar. A truly discrete quality like Notability, which says that you gain 1 x of it, has no progress bar next to it, not even an empty one (you may need to adjust your monitor to see the difference from black-on-gray). BDR qualities have present but empty bars. Baroque! has no bar. Zeefaring, alone among the Skills, is discrete which matches the fact that you train it by level with scaling costs.
