I looked it up: zugzwang is a chess thing. It’s a situation in which you use the obligation to move on one’s turn against them, and force them to essentially harm themselves through forced action. It’s also just more broadly used for a scenario in which a person forces another to take action that would be to their own detriment: like for the Amanuensis to speak first.
