I've been robbing the Bazaar, which nets you a lot of Nightmares change points.

With 6 Nightmares reducing items, I went from 0 CP of Nightmares to Nightmares 6 with 6 leftover changepoints. Each further menace reducing item is supposed to be less influential, right? Is the formula for how influential any given number of menace reducing items known?

Since I'm robbing the bazaar repeatedly anyways (trying to raise my Master Thief level), I'll try to record my results here in case this might be useful for the more math savvy folks here.
