The king is a living statue. In the days of the First City he was close to death, and his lover bargained with the Bazaar for their lives in exchange for the city.
The Masters made him a statue and as a heart put in a huge diamond from the Mountain of Light to the South. The diamond shattered long ago, and a shard was stolen by someone and taken to Spite in London.
The King will only allow the Manager to play the Marvellous if you return the shard to him. But he also begs you not to let the Manager win.
