Template documentation (for the above template, sometimes hidden or invisible)

This template is used for gaining items and increases in linear qualities such as Notability. Typically used with bullet points. The opposite of Template:Item Loss. Use Template:Increase and Template:Drop for non-linear qualities.

Usage: {{Item Gain|A|B|Appearance=C}}

• The first parameter is the name of the item or quality.
• The second parameter is the amount gained. Standard formatting is "# x".
• Appearance is an optional parameter to change what the link looks like.

For example, {{Item Gain|Piece of Rostygold|5 x|Appearance=Modified Link}} becomes

•  You've gained 5 x Modified Appearance

Alternate usage: {{Item Gain|A|now=B}}

• The first parameter is the name of the item or quality.
• now is an optional parameter used to indicate that the item/quality is being set to a specific value. The second parameter from the first usage overrides now.

For example, {{Item Gain|Piece of Rostygold|now=5 x}} becomes

•  You now have 5 x Piece of Rostygold

Template parameters

This template prefers inline formatting of parameters.

Item name	1	The name of the item gained by the action. Example Piece of Rostygold	Page	required
Quantity	2	The amount gained. If no value is given, and the "now" parameter is not used, then no item link will display. Example 5 x	Line	suggested
Appearance	Appearance	Changes the anchor text of the link. Default If not present, then the item name will be used. Example Modified Appearance	Line	optional
Now	now	If the action sets the count of this item to a specific value instead of increasing by a given amount, then set this parameter to the new value. Example 5	Number	optional
