Template talk:QuoteSummary
Is there a way to have this page not count characters indicating trimming when calculating the text length? For example, using [...] adds five characters, so the pared-down summaries have to be artificially shorter for this template to accept them. Optimatum (talk) 03:28, March 13, 2020 (UTC)
SEO tag[edit]
I noticed the use of an #SEO tag to add meta-description. I'm not sure that the Quote Summary template is the best place to do that. Several article types call QuoteSummary several times. E.g. an Action will use QuoteSummary for the description, success, rare success, failure, and rare failure. For SEO purposes, there should be a single meta-description.
It would probably make more sense to set the meta-descrpition in "leaf" templates like Item, Quality, Action, etc. Then we can better designate which fields are being pulled into the description. PSGarak (talk) 19:19, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- A fair point! I think I was just being lazy when I decided to put the meta description tag in QuoteSummary - I had realised that the extension only pulls the very first instance of the tag, and thought "eh, good enough".
I'll go through and make sure that the relevant templates are updated ahead of Monday. Alan (talk) 20:54, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
