The Wandering Gondolier apparently had secrets of his own - one of which includes a bargain at the Clarity of Bells for a special mirror that leads to the Parabolan locale that is the Writhing River. Your character, of course, is already well acquianted with Parabola by then. Somehow, the mirror acts as a sink for the poisoned waters, until they are all drained. The mirror shatters afterwards however, the Gondolier remarking that the place has a guardian of sorts.
