Blog talk:Adnoam/Updates to Template:Item/@comment-36504000-20200821125852/@comment-25219384-20200821142308
I've thought about that a lot, and it's certainly possible to do. The computer scientist in me really doesn't like that the same data exists in two places, which always raised the possibility of a mismatch/conflict.
However, I'm still not decided on this one. Whenever someone creates a new page for a new item, it's much more reasonable to add the effects right there on the item page as parameters, instead of going to an obscure module table somewhere (even assuming the editor knows about the existence of the module, which most won't).
As long as the effects are listed on the Item page itself, I feel that should be exactly what's displayed, and the template shouldn't ignore those values and grab them from a table behind the scenes.
We can obviously add maintenance categories to flag such pages, but is it really worth the effort to go and update every single item page on the wiki just so it doesn't have the effects listed?
