Having editors assume that the effect fields would need to be filled in when they create a page, then later someone having to come and remove them again does seem like more trouble than it's worth, I agree. That already happens pretty often with categories that should be automatically added by the module.
I don't think linking to the table and requesting people add the stats there is too inaccessible, but if the consensus is that it is then basing the effects on the table would at best be a flourish experienced editors could utilise when making item pages, and would probably be largely pointless.
