The template editor usergroup allows trusted template editors to edit certain protected high usage templates.
Description[edit]
Template-protected pages can only be edited only by administrators or users in the Template editors group. This protection level should be used almost exclusively on high-risk templates and modules, or in cases where pages in other namespaces become highly transcluded.
This protection level replaces full protection on pages that protected only due to a high transclusion rate, rather than content disputes, or other reasons for protection. It should not be used on less risky templates on the grounds that the template editor user right exists—the existence of the right should not result in more templates becoming uneditable for the general editing community.
Editors may request edits to a template-protected page by leaving a request on a active bureaucrat's talk page
If you'd like to be a member of the template editor group, leave a message on a bureaucrat's talk page or reach out on the Wiki Discord Server. Ideally, prospective template editors will have experience editing templates on this or other wikis, and will have a significant history of edits on this wiki.
