So, with the introduction of 'conversion' actions for most items, I've been unsure of the best way to link them. That is, clicking on the item brings up a pseudo-Card/Storylet, from which one or more Actions can be selected. Is it best to:
- Link directly from the Item to the Actions, or
- Link from the item to the Card/Storylet (and if so, which type should it be?)
In most cases there's only one Action, in which case 1 seems appropriate - but then you get something like Appalling Secret, with three different actions that could be more conveniently grouped...
I quite like option 2 for including the extra description, but when there's only one Action option 2 seems a little more concise. Jemann 04:42, January 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Jemann, and thank you for your input.
- Because there exists items with multiple 'conversions', I feel that we should try and group those actions together somehow. While your option 2 addresses this, I feel that it is a bit unnecessary to have a whole new page just to accommodate the description.
- Thus I propse a third option: A template - which you can simply add to the Item pages with possible conversions on them (see Template:Failure) . The template will have space for the conversion title, description, and the list of possible actions. This way we get the most out of the item page without having to click on yet another link.
- I just need a name to call this new template. Any suggestions?

- Item Action seems appropriate to me.
- Ah - you would need space for successful and failed outcomes. Not sure how that works with the current
{Action|Success}
results
{Failure}
results
- format.

- ...which, now that I think about it, would also work fine in this case.
- Also, hi! I seem to have topped 800 edits without actually saying hello to anyone. Shadowy gentleman is shadowy.

- Perhaps a demonstration is in order. Take a look at Maniac's Prayer. I created the Item Action template and put it there. A storylet page already existed for Repeat your Maniac's Prayer - this would no longer be needed with the new template.
