The Airs of Port Carnelian
1 – 10Zailors from London play mahjong in the Khaganian Quarter. Maybe a Londoner will win today.
11 – 20The black, reflective waters beneath a Moon Bridge are disturbed. Someone dropped a wriggling bag into the river.
21 – 30In the tea shops, women roll up their sleeves; men, their trouser legs. The heat is unbearable today.
31 – 40An airag-drunken philosopher argues with a sober poet on the nature of the Mountain of Light.
41 – 50Haggling in the Blue Bazaar turns criminally violent. Again.
51 – 60Drunken Londoners, shuffling down the middle of the street, scramble to clear a path for an uninterested tiger.
61 – 70The miners are recreating sections of Wagner’s operas, with modest success.
71 – 80A Venetian ship has docked next to one of Hell's Triremes. Most of the Surface zailors refuse to disembark.
81 – 90A tiger blows rings of lilac smoke towards the false-stars.
91 – 99Faces change. More than one person in the Port isn’t who they were yesterday.
100A greying tiger gladly bears a laughing child on its back. All is well.
