A guide to the locations of the Unterzee.
This guide tries to wrap up what happens in each location on the Unterzee and how to get there. For Zailing mechanics: see [[Zailing (Guide)]].

==={{IL|Hunter's Keep}}===
An action-intensive, dialogue-heavy carousel. Visit here for the writing, not the rewards. Be aware that subsequent rounds of the carousel unlock additional options. Most actions have challenges around 120 in {{IL|Persuasive}} and {{IL|Watchful}}.
* This island is the only source of the {{IL|Stone Tentacle-Key}}, needed for some ambitions. 
* Only mild penalties for reaching 8 {{IL|Wounds}} or {{IL|Nightmares}}.

==={{IL|Mutton Island}}===
Mutton Island is mostly used during the {{FontFruits}} Festival, but also has some other niche uses. 
* Grind {{IL|Favours: The Docks}} for 24 actions. 
* The only grindable source of {{IL|Stormy-Eyed}}, and the only source if your {{IL|Having Recurring Dreams: What the Thunder Said}} is too high.

Part of Embarking on a Voyage of Scientific Discovery. Note that outfits are locked on the island; you'll be wanting your watchful gear.
* Good source of {{IL|Page of Cryptopalaeontological Notes}}. 
* A source of {{IL|Shard of Glim the Size of a Small Child|Rubbery Favours}}
* With {{IL|Route: The Bone Market}}, a good source of {{IL|Horned Skull}}.

==={{IL|Hunt a feral crocodile|Appearance = Feral Crocodile Hunting Grounds}}===
With {{IL|Monstrous Anatomy}} 5, a new zee hunt opens up in the waters surronding London. Slaying crocodiles can be a nice source of both {{IL|Shard of Glim}}, {{IL|Relic of the Second City}}, {{IL|Tale of Terror!!}}, as well as probably being the easiest way to grind {{IL|A Hunter of Zee-Beasts}}

===Other Locations===
{{IL|A Secluded Coastline|Appearance = Dr Vaughan's Hidden Encampment}} and {{IL|A Secluded Coastline|Appearance = Your Flotilla}} is only used in {{IL|Ambition: Light Fingers!}}.

=={{IL|Shepherd's Wash}}==
In this region, it's possible to gain {{IL|Southern Wind}} by playing cards at zee. You initially need to [[Fix a looking-glass on the Mountain|Fix a looking-glass]] on [[The Light of the Mountain|The Mountain of Light]]. After this, options on [[The Wax-Wind]] will also increase your dreams.

==={{IL|Iron Republic Streets}}===
To get here you need an {{IL|Iron Republic Safe-Conduct}} from [[Spending Secrets and Counting the Days (Guide)|Counting the Days]]. 
* Source of the {{IL|Iron Republic Journal}}, a +2 BDR weapon.
* The location is used in {{IL|Ambition: Nemesis}}
* Get the {{IL|Infernal Vinification Apparatus|Appearance=Renown: Hell 40 item}}. 
* Can be used to reduce your menaces before getting back to London.

==={{IL|Heartscross House}} (Port Carnelian)===

This location is needed to get admitted to Court again, but can also be a profitable source of various items. To visit, you must get {{IL|Imperial Legitimacy}} in {{IL|The Foreign Office}}.
* Get the {{IL|Most Humbling Expression of Her Majesty's Esteem|Appearance=Renown: Society 40 item}}. 
* Required for access to {{IL|The Court of the Wakeful Eye}}

This location requires you to have advanced the {{IL|Associating with Radical Academics|Dilmun Club}} storyline to the 5th coil of the Labyrinth of Tigers, and having a successful governorship in {{IL|Heartscross House}}. This location is used for cashing in {{IL|Tribute}}.
* Gain Tiger Companions, who are Best-in-Slot for {{IL|The Minister of Enigmas|Appearance=Shadowy}}, {{IL|The Minister of War|Appearance=Dangerous}}, and {{IL|The Minister of Culture|Appearance=Persuasive}}.
* Excellent source of {{IL|Night-Whisper}}, {{IL|Primaeval Hint}}, and {{IL|Searing Enigma}}.

==={{IL|Aeschaven}}===
Located on Godfall, Aeschaven can be unlocked by either playing a storylet at {{IL|Wolfstack Docks}} or a card when zailing in {{IL|Shepherd's Wash}}. Aeschaven is notably a decent source of {{IL|Nodule of Warm Amber}} in the mid-game, as well as pilgrimage.

Once in a while, there's a breeding season for Angler Crabs. If you have {{IL|Monstrous Anatomy}} you may visit this area to hunt for crabs.

=={{IL|The Sea of Voices}}==
All locations in this sea requires {{IL|Screaming Map}}. See [[Cat and Mouse (Guide)]] for more info on this.
Options on [[Listen to the Wind]] will increase any zee-dreams qualities you already possess.

==={{IL|Polythreme Docks|Appearance = Polythreme}}===
This island is split in three locations: {{IL|Polythreme Docks}}, {{IL|Polythreme Streets}} and {{IL|The Maze-Garden}}.
*{{IL|Polythreme Docks}} is the area where you unlock the other locations.
*{{IL|The Maze-Garden}} is used in a self-contained carousel, which can be very profitable.
*{{IL|Polythreme Streets}} is used in {{IL|The Jack-of-Smiles Case}} and several other storylines. This is also the source of {{IL|Unfinished Hat}} and {{IL|Moderately Co-operative Clothes Colony}}.

=={{IL|The Salt Steppes}}==
In order to travel here you must either know the location of the Khanate from another source, or you must travel through this location by traveling between two other zee-regions in the correct direction. The {{IL|Eastern Wind}} is found in the Salt Steppes, by [[Fix a looking-glass on the horizon|fixing a looking-glass on the horizon]] on [[A Distant Gleam]]

==={{IL|The Copper Quarter}}===
The copper quarter is a part of the Khanate. All players may sell skeletons, gain {{IL|Memory of Light}} (avg. 5.5 per action) or smuggle {{IL|Unassuming Crate}}s back to London for some extra profit. Players who have unlocked {{IL|Balmoral}} and done some extra work may enter {{IL|Khan's Heart}} and engage in Khaganian Intrigue. 
* Gain {{IL|Infiltrator's Footsteps}}.
* An excellent source of several items, including {{IL|Crackling Device}} and {{IL|Mortification of a Great Power}}.

==={{IL|Remaining Mass of the Ravenous Lifeberg|Appearance=Ravenous Lifeberg Hunting Grounds}}===
{{IL|Remaining Mass of the Ravenous Lifeberg|Appearance=Ravenous Lifebergs}} sometimes spawn in The Salt Steppes, drifting towards London through {{IL|The Sea of Voices}}. If you have {{IL|Monstrous Anatomy}} you may visit this area to hunt for Lifebergs.

=={{IL|The Pillared Sea}}==
The only thing in this region is currently the {{IL|Unexploded Mine|Appearance=Renown: Docks 40 item}}, but Irem will eventually have been here. She will rise from the zee and the ice like dawn.
If you have discovered the {{IL|Eastern Wind}} and/or the {{IL|Northern Wind}}, these can be increased on [[Of the Pillars]] and [[Becalmed]] cards.

===Other Locations===
*Through the [[Becalmed]] card, you may transport yourself all the way back to {{IL|Your Lodgings}}, through {{IL|Discovered: the Sea of Spines|Appearance = The Sea of Spines}}. This is an opportunity to fill a {{IL|Mirrorcatch Box}} with {{IL|Apocyan-filled Mirrorcatch Box|Appearance = Apocyan}}, should you wish to.

=={{IL|Stormbones}}==
{{IL|Northern Wind}} can be found in Stormbones, initially on the [[A Wind From the North]] card with the [[Listen to the wind]] option, subsequently also on options on the [[Sighting a Lifeberg]] card. {{IL|Monster-Hunter}}s will also have opportunities to slay life bergs.

Part of {{IL|Embarking on a Voyage of Scientific Discovery}}. Note that outfits are locked on the island; you'll be wanting your Watchful gear.
