Your {{IL|Addressed as:}} quality will change how other characters in Fallen London refer to you in story text. In this Wiki, the string "[gendertitle]" is often used to denote the place where the game dynamically inserts your title.

There are four variants to how characters address you. The formal variant is a default and is used most of the time.

The informal variant can be easily accessed by [[Accept a proposition from a smuggler|loaning out a Decomissioned Steamer]], [[Arrange a stabbing|arranging a stabbing from the Gloomy Guttersnipe]], [[Deliver the crate to the Widow|delivering a crate to the Widow]], and [[Purchase a box of sunlight|purchasing a box of sunlight from the Criminals]]. It is generally used by people associated with the Urchins, Criminals, and Docks.

The written variant is only repeatably encountered in [[Destroy an errant nightmare]], which requires you to be a Silverer. It is used in some letters, though not all. 

The third-person variant is found in the fewest actions, though both actions are repeatable. It is reliably accessed only [[Follow the Merry Gentleman (Tracklayers' City)|with high nightmares]] or [[Remind them of their share in the city's prosperity|with high displeasure]] in the City of the Tracklayers.
