Category structure

Following the recent discussion on my wall:

The idea is to revamp the current category structure as it relates to Qualities (and probably to Items as well), to better match new changes in the game.

Historically, the wiki has been categorizing qualities as follows:

• "Category:QualityName" - for storylets/actions unlocked by the quality. Usually addde via the {{Unlock}} template.
  • "Category:QualityName Gains" (or "Sources") - for storylets/actions providing this quality
  • "Category:QualityName Loss" - for storylets/actions reducing (or eliminating) this quality.
  • "Category:QualityName Challenge" - for actions with a challenge based on the quality.

This has a few disadvantages, and also doesn't capture other ways in which a quality can be used.

Several suggestions have been made to improve this, and we can create helper templates/modules to handle as much as possible automatically behind the scenes. But we should first agree on a structure.

If I understand the suggestions from the previous thread, we want to make the following changes:

1. Add new sub-categories to qualities, to capture other uses of it.
2. Move all pages which are unlocked by the quality to a sub-category ("Category:QualityName Unlocks"), leaving the main quality category mostly empty from direct pages, except for rare cases.
3. The quality's page itself will provided prominent links to the sub-categories relevant for that particular quality, should they exist (and flag for maintenance should they not exist).

• "Category:QualityName" - main quality category. Mostly empty except for sub-categories.
  • "Category:QualityName Unlocks" - for storylets/actions unlocked by the quality. Usually addde via the {{Unlock}} template.
  • "Category:QualityName Locks" - for storylets/actions locked by the quality. This isn't tracked today. any suggestions as to the name?
  • "Category:QualityName Gains" (or "Sources") - for storylets/actions providing this quality
  • "Category:QualityName Loss" - for storylets/actions reducing (or eliminating) this quality.
  • "Category:QualityName Challenge" - for actions with a challenge based on the quality.
  • "Category:QualityName Items" - for Items directly associated with this quality
  • "Category:QualityName Formula Uses" - for actions where the level of the quality affects the amount of "stuff" received as a result.
  • "Category:QualityName Text Uses" - for actions where the level of the quality affects the text displayed.
