Description summary:
Airs | Success description |
---|---|
0 – 9 | Your agents have identified a disgruntled academic who might be amenable to an overture – if you can present the right ideological mien. |
10 – 19 | Power breeds discontents; Khan's Heart is hardly different from London in this. Having informants in the tea shops and Revolutionary cells will be invaluable to your network. |
20 – 29 | Tailors[…] hear things – it is impossible to be in close proximity to someone for such a long time[…] without learning something[…]. And not only is a tailor's shop an unassuming cover for an agent, it helps in the manufacture of further covers and disguises. |
30 – 39 | As much as spies try to differentiate themselves from the common criminal, there's no getting around the fact that their skill-sets overlap. Sometimes the way for a scheme has to be opened with a prybar. |
40 – 49 | The Khanate does not have nobility as such […] But some are born to a higher station than others; and much like in London, some are born into a struggle for advancement and wealth. Such men are a perfect conveyance for the ambitions of others. |
50 – 59 | The Khaganian navy is strict and[…] capricious. Careers can stall for seemingly petty reasons; zailors bond[…] in service and then are reassigned to far-flung postings, sometimes never to see each other again. It shouldn't be too hard to plant an agent[…] |
60 – 69 | London maintains a large embassy in the Copper Quarter, but the Presbyterate has a whole embassy complex […] There is plenty of room to ensconce an agent or an informant, if your network can select one with the appropriate proclivities. |
70 – 79 | The Khanate jealously guards its technical marvels – the electric lights and battery-driven water-taxis that keep the city alight and alive. To have someone on the inside of its industries would afford greater opportunities. |
80 – 89 | Having a medical doctor in your network would have a great many uses. Not all of them would need to be abhorrent to medical ethics. |
90 – 100 | The Khanate does have a land military – a perpetually aggrieved class of aging warriors, polishing their muskets and hoping for a day when they won't be overshadowed by the navy. It is an ideal breeding ground for defectors and double agents. |
