Success

Triggers finer than fingernails

[…]The bullets these weapons fire are tiny, but at close range, or shot into – say – an eye, they'd certainly sting.

[…] you've got the gun held in a clamp, you can activate it with a pin. Soon, you're peppering a target with more holes than a pincushion.[…]

Work TeamText
1The Grizzled Gaffer comes over to check your work. He considers the gun, then the target. "You're not a bad shot, are you?"
2The Masterly Machinist checks the gun is secure in the clamp, then tweaks the weapon slightly. He fires the gun himself: bullseye. "Nice work," he says, nodding.
3The Eager Engineer comes over. "That looks fun! May I have a go?" The Fore-Rat, watching from a distance, shakes her head, but you catch her suppressing a smile.

1The Grizzled Gaffer comes over to check your work. "You're doing a good job at dashing me preconceptions. Didn't think your lot cared whether we could defend ourselves." His thanks is gruff, but sincere.
2The Masterly Machinist watches you from a distance – waiting till you're regularly hitting bullseye. "Good work. You're doing my guns justice."
3The Eager Engineer comes over. "You know my dad designed these?" She watches you punch holes in the target. "He'll be happy with this. I'm not, though. You're a better shot than me!" She doesn't seem that distressed, however.

Failure

Triggers finer than fingernails

On one table, a gang of rats work on rat-sized pistols. On another, a team focus on a tiny Gatling gun. […]

[…]Someone needs to ensure the weapons fire cleanly and aim true. That someone might as well be you.

1Were it not for the Grizzled Gaffer, leaping to throw a thick metal crate over the weapon, the loose fire would have taken out the Fore-Rat. She is unimpressed.
2The problem is the size. You […] are forced to poke it with a pin – which gets jammed. The gun fires, again, and again[…] Were it not for the Masterly Machinist, leaping to shove the Fore-Rat out of the path of the fire, she would have been hit. […]
3The Eager Engineer kicks the gun away. "Please! If there's ever a battle with rats against humans, stick to your own side."
