Occasional Buyer has incorrect info[edit]
I'm not sure how world qualities like this one are updated, but the current value of Occasional Buyer should be the Colourful Phantasist (it is showing Dreary Midnighter). Do you know how to fix it, or who to contact to fix it? Orthogon (talk) 18:48, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- That one is on me.
There are scripts to pull the current value of World Qualities, but it only pulls a number, not the text displayed to players. Matching numbers to descriptions is guesswork, and our historical data is incomplete, so there are still gaps and errors. In the future, you can update this by editing the article for the World Quality itself and re-numbering the ValueN and DetailN template parameters. PSGarak (talk) 00:13, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
BaL ending options[edit]
Asking you since you deleted the page Acknowledge Mr Wines' stare 1 — Do you think we might have some incomplete info re: how the various options for Swore an Oath to Mr Wines shake out in the ending? I don't think it's the Fate-locked option in Luring the Vake that makes the difference here, though. I think we just have some mixed-up data re: Oath 2 (you agreed to kill a friend, but meant the Vake) and Oath 3 (you promised to do whatever Wines means).
How I think it breaks down:
- Sending the Vake a gift via Wines: Gets you Oath 1 (lie), Oath 2 (Vake only), or Oath 3 (promise).
- Think in the Midst of the Hunt: You can come out of this with Oath 1, 2, or 3, but there's a chance to change your original choice.
- What we have: You can only change from Oath 2 (Vake only) to Oath 1 (lie), by deciding to spare a Vake aspect.
- What I think is likely: You should be able to change from EITHER Oath 2 or Oath 3 (both promises) to Oath 1 (lie) here.
- Back to Normal: Your oath is reckoned against what you actually did, based on how many Vake heads you have (whether you spared one or killed all three).
- What we have: You can end up with Oath 1 (lie), 3 (promise), or 10 (Honored an oath). Oath 2 gets changed to 1 if you spared a Vake, or 10 if you killed them all.
- What I think is likely: You can end up with Oath 1 (lie, if you spared any Vake), Oath 2 (if you had Oath 2 and killed them all), or Oath 10 (if you had Oath 3 and killed them all). I think this because of what happens in the next part...
- A Reading of Procedures: You run into Wines and have to account for what you did.
- What we have: Two options, one if you have Oath 1–9 and one if you have Oath 10. (The texts we have assigned to these don't make sense for what the requirements involve; see below.)
- What I think is likely: Three options: Oath 1 (you spared a Vake and broke your oath), Oath 2 (you killed them all, and you think this fulfills your oath), or Oath 10 (you killed them all, and you still owe Wines a killing). Maybe just 2 and 10, if Wines isn't aware whether you spared one.
- Source: I did Oath 2 throughout and didn't change it, and killed all the Vakes. The text I got is what we have listed for Oath 10 (but it only makes sense for Oath 2). What we have listed for Oath 1–9 (not a valid range anyway) only makes sense for Oath 10.
ANYWAY, that was A Lot of text and story-logic, but let me know what you think (and also how you think we might go about getting this info/ properly noting the questionable bits on the wiki).

- I can't confirm any of the above, but what's on the wiki likely reflects what the initial wave of BaL finale players experienced. If you have reason to believe what's there is wrong/has been changed, you could leave a wiki note on the relevant storylet pages to ask for confirmation. AFAIK, @Doctor Flamingo is currently doing the ambition and perhaps has the relevant prerequisites to check some of this. TFF (talk) 14:18, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, it might be a while until I finish the Ambition; I'm currently working on building out to the Evenlode to get the text for The Place of the Judge with Oath level 2.
However, from the perspective of the story, I don't think there are any problems with what we currently have recorded.
The only way that level 10 makes sense is if you have honoured your oath, i.e. already killed the friend that Mr Wines asks you to. Since the game doesn't actually let you kill a random friend, the only way to get this is by considering the Vake to be your friend (Oath 2) and fully killing it.
Similarly, I don't think it should be possible to finish BaL with Oath at level 2. If you spare the Vake, then clearly you were lying about the promise and so your Oath switches to level 1. However, if you kill the Vake, then you have already fulfilled the promise, and so your Oath switches to level 10. Are you sure you're still at level 2? I think it's more likely that it got switched to 10 by Take a breath 2. Doctor Flamingo (talk) 15:43, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
Access codes for Advent 2021[edit]
I just discovered that the codes for Christmas Eve and Christmas 2021 are still working. As this is an interest of yours, do you think I should unretire the pages and note the ones that are working? Sabio (talk) 07:43, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

- @Sabio this was apparently a bug involving some of the codes which has now been fixed. All codes should now be retired --Asarta (talk) 10:48, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oh no, did I just remove opportunities for my fellow Neathers? Oh, the infamy! Sabio (talk) 14:49, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
