|Level 20 – 29 = A surprising number of chambers are undisturbed, left just as they were following the stalactite's fall.
|Level 30 – 39 = The tunnel walls flex, contract, then unclench again.
|Level 40 – 49 = The zee's relentless crash is a dull drone from here.
|Level 50 – 59 = The floor is pocked with little buds that taste the pilgrims as they pass.
|Level 60 – 68 = Amber. Endless amber dews the walls.
|Level 71 – 79 = The distant breathing of the island hitches, then continues.
|Level 80 – 99 = Salt crystalises in the depths, an inevitable reversion.
|Level 100 – 119 = The brothers grow restless.
|Level 120 – 139 = A hand reaches up from the ground. Closer inspection reveals it to be cast in amber.
|Level 143 – 158 = The Abbot-Commander orders a crate of his personal label brought up from the cellar. It must be a special occasion.
|Level 160 – 179 = The air here is heady like wine, but chokes those who breathe too deeply.
|Level 180 – 199 = In the depths, a monk carries a crate, clanking with every step. He must be desperate, to delve so deep alone.
|Level 201 – 219 = A solitary eye, set high in a cliff, watches the zee.
|Level 220 – 237 = In the Shaping Chambers, something weeps.
|Level 240 – 259 = Monks cheer and wassail as the bell rings for Matins.
|Level 261 – 279 = Two monks lament the shuttering of the winery. Their dreams have not been the same.
|Level 280 – 299 = On a distant ship, a merchant eyes the island warily. She doesn't stop here anymore.
|Level 300 – 319 = A stale smell. Old fish and too much salt.
|Level 320 – 339 = Somewhere above, the Abbot-Commander cracks his many knuckles.
|Level 340 – 359 = The monks decorate their buildings with twisted figures. They don't call them 'grotesques' anymore. They're 'divinities' now.
|Level 360 – 377 = A bloody-fisted monk takes his brother by the hand and hauls him up from the dirt.
|Level 380 – 400 = A great pair of lungs, suspended in a chamber, pull water into the island from the zee.
|Level 500 = The air clears. The island is quiet.
