World Quality Items[edit]

I propose we add "World Quality" as one of the Item & Content restrictions that are annotated on the Wiki, like Festival or Retired. Similar to Festival, this signals that content is available to any player, but access is limited and should be planned. Between the Rat Market, and the formerly-Legacy items that are being unretired in the Waswood, I think there's enough items that warrant this distinction. And several of those items are Best-in-Slot, so the availability of these items is something we would want to highlight.

The other thing we could do is add Rat Market and Sacroboscan Calendar as separate access tags, and add more tags as needed. We could, there's no good reason not to, I just feel that each individual World Quality has too few items on its own to warrant the tag. The other thing that distinguishes World Quality items is that there's always something available, which is not the case for regular Festivals.

I think these are the changes involved in rolling this out fully:

  • A new {{Font}} tag. (I can't do this myself)
  • Update item listings
    • Create Category:World Quality Items Concept:World Quality Items is active
    • Update {{Item}} to annotate when Access info is Rat Market or Sacroboscan Calendar Unnecessary due to Concept, above.
    • Update Module:ItemList with new category & Font tag.
  • Update actions and other content - not sure if needed?

Out of curiousity, why cannot you add the tag? I recently added {{FontLegacy}} and I don't have more permissions than you. Or is this a design question thing? -- RagCall (talk) 21:02, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
It's a design question thing. I wouldn't know where to start with picking a color that coordinates with the others (much less Dark Mode), and my knowledge of CSS does not extend much further than being able to spell it. PSGarak (talk) 21:39, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
Is there any conceptual reason why Rat Moon/Rat Wind are not in the list of queried World Qualities? -- RagCall (talk) 08:56, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
I want the Concept to refer to items which are only available in the Rat-Market. So that e.g. it could be used as the data source for Module:ItemList. I couldn't figure out how to distinguish between a Rat-Market-exclusive like Stainless Gloves vs other Wind/Moon equipables like Pair of Irrigo Goggles. PSGarak (talk) 18:45, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Went ahead and did this. It may take a hot minute for the updates to trickle down, but the new tag shows up on Category:Gloves for the Stainless Gloves.
A few things to note. I'm writing these down now, because we'll need to run through basically the same process in July when the new Election/GCO-replacement festival lands.
  • The new tag is {{FontWorld}} and looks like WORLD QUALITY. If someone with a sense of style wants to change that, go ahead.
  • It turns out Concepts cannot replace Categories for this particular use. So we're still using the existing process, editing {{Item}} and extending the big #switch statement on Access info to looks for The Rat Market (Guide) and The Sacroboscan Calendar (Guide), adding Category:World Quality Equipment.
  • Module:ItemList needs four new lines to add the font & category. A ctrl+f for "whitsun" will find all the places it needs to go.
