In order to brawl with dockers in The Blind Helmsman, you need A Name Scrawled in Blood 7 and to have gained Acquaintance: The Garrulous Drunk 3 by spending the following items:
- 250 x Piece of Rostygold
- 250 x Shard of Glim
If your modified Dangerous is under 230-ish, it's probably a good idea to brawl in a group, but above that you'll earn more by fighting for yourself. Each point of Brawling with Dockers is worth 0.25 in various items, but specific items may have additional requirements beyond a given Brawling value. See the Rewards tables for more info on this.
Even though you're able to push Brawling above 150, all secondary payouts are capped at 100-120 Brawling when with a group, or 140-150 Brawling when fighting alone. Check the Rewards tables below for the exact caps at various reward levels.
Note that the option Take a moment to tend your wounds cures 3CP of Wounds, one of the higher per-action CP reductions. If you're investing actions into a brawl, you might consider zeroing your Wounds while you're at it.
Conversely, if you're a POSI, investing 2 or 3 actions in a brawl -- enough for the basic reward, needing 10-40 Brawling -- may be worthwhile just to get access to Take a moment... in the first place. Curing 30CP of Wounds (i.e. Level 7 plus some) takes 15 Actions (and 15 Tinctures, if using those) at -2CP. Or you could take the same Actions and spend 10 at -3CP Wounds and the rest earning goods to either keep or sell -- handy if you've run up Wounds to the point of death (i.e. just shy of Level 8) before dealing with them.

- ↑ Also provides 1 x Perfumed Gunpowder
- ↑ Requires Honed Ushanka
- ↑ Requires Vigilant Chitin-Fur Boots
- ↑ Requires Moray Heels
- ↑ Requires A Hunter's Instinct for Nightmares
- ↑ Requires Special Dispensation, Taking Sides exactly 1 (Order)
Note that the special attacks (Rope/Gunpowder/Drownies) that give more Brawling only have a higher difficulty than the standard attack at low-medium values of Brawling. For the above table, though the special attack difficulty starts at 250, it becomes equal to standard attack at ~83 Brawling (250 - (1.5*83.333) = 125).
As such, keep an eye on the falling difficulty of the special attack as you use the standard attack to gain Brawling. Depending on your Dangerous, you might find the special attack becomes easier (and more rewarding!) than the standard attack mid-way through the brawl.
Rewards[edit]
General principles: Each Brawling with Dockers seems to be worth 0.25 in rewards. In addition to this, there is a 2.5 bonus for cashing in, which makes sense considering that takes an action. This game values
- Human Ribcage at 12.5
- Justificande Coin and Femur of a Jurassic Beast at 2.5
- Bessemer Steel Ingot at 0.5 .
Any surplus Brawling you may have is exchanged for a variable reward.
