Category:Cryptic Clue Gain
From Fallen London Wiki
Actions which give out Cryptic Clue.
For a list of uses (cards/storylets it unlocks, and actions requiring it), see Category:Cryptic Clue.
Beginners with no new areas can find Cryptic Clues here:
- Rob a drunk in Spite Shadowy 10: 3 for each failure; rare success is Tasselled Sword-Cane
Probably not repeatable sources:
- Catch a grey cat in the nave of the church of All Christs in Spite Shadowy 20 and A Name Whispered in Darkness 1: 24
If one has not completed the University murder investigation, then combining Investigating from that and Making Use of Cats from the Flit can earn up to 954 Cryptic Clues in 10 actions (1.908 EPA) at Watchful 177 and Shadowy 167. Lower attributes will mean either occasional failed challenges and/or using less profitable steps:
- Advance Featuring in the Tales of the University to 9.
- Advance Embroiled in the Wars of Illusion to 10, and then avoid advancing it to 20 at Mahogany Hall.
- Under "Making Your Name: Investigations in the university", interview the department staff three times and conduct forensic analysis once. This should raise Investigating to 5.
- Under "Bats and Cats", choose "Cats...", and then "Try to find to out about their allegiances" once. This should raise Making Use of Cats to 2.
- This will cause the storylet "Working with the Cats" to re-appear at the top level of the Flit. Under that, assist a fortune teller four times. This should raise Making Use of Cats to 5.
- Back under "Bats and Cats", choose "Spending Making Use of Cats" and choose "Follow up a tip-off". This will reset Investigating and Making Use of Cats.
