General[edit]
Someone Is Coming is a mechanic that is used throughout the game. 1 CP Progress is gained on many different cards, and once you've reached Level 4 (10 CP), someone will finally arrive. Alternatively, it may be cashed in on the Rob a drunk storylet in
Spite. This means that a normal reward takes 11 actions, and robbing a drunk takes 7 actions.
Payouts[edit]
There are various payouts that can be acquired, and while you start with only one, as you progress in the game, you'll be able to collect different payouts later. The later payouts are typically more valuable than earlier ones.
Everything done through the card will reset Somone is Coming, so if you have excess for whatever reason, it would be best to cash out through robbing A furious and incoherent drunken rat before you play the card.
A table of payouts is shown below:

Breakdown of Cards[edit]
Profit in addition to the CP of SiC:
Cards while Zailing[edit]
Note: You'll meet someone first when you return to London. Excess CP over level 4 should preferably be spent on robbing the drunk rat.
Analysis[edit]
Each completed, London bound, cycle permits payout from either:
- Rat, for a maximum payout of 5.27
or 0.75 EPSiC
- Relicker, for a maximum payout of 22
or 2 EPSiC
- Note, this will reset your
Someone Is Coming quality

Thus, an optimal strategy would be:
Favours: Hell - sourced from Attend a lecture at the Brass Embassy
- Attend the ceremony - consuming the
Favour and a
Soul (Bazaar bought) (x 10 times)
- Factoring in a 10 CP
Scandal reduction
- Factoring in a 10 CP
- And choosing For someone who has it all, or at least most of it for 12
For a total of 2.54 EPA
This can be improved later by unlocking Ermine Assassin during the yearly Hallowmas Event. With the assassin, an option on City Vices: a tournament of weasels! becomes quite profitable, as:
- From Attend with your Ermine Assassin - option on City Vices: a tournament of weasels! (x 10 times)
- And choosing For someone who has it all, or at least most of it for 12
For a total of 4.27 EPA
Quite good, but we can do better! Once you unlocked the Bone Market, as a Mid-Game
PoSI, the option Raw material becomes available. Thus, the analysis is as follows:
- From the same Attend with your Ermine Assassin - option on City Vices: a tournament of weasels! (x 10 times)
- And choosing Raw material for 22
For a total of 5.18 EPA
Now, the following method requires a number of precursor conditions:
- Access to the first
Railway Station - a Late-Game content story
- Access to the Iremi Exchange or
Irem in general - a reward for finishing the Evolution story; an Ambition-sized storyline
But, once these conditions are met, the following strategy can be performed:
- From the same Attend with your Ermine Assassin - option on City Vices: a tournament of weasels! (x 10 times)
- And choosing A bag of jangling coins for 14.5
and
x 3 Justificande Coin
- Coins which can be exchanged 26 at a time for a
Night-Whisper
- Item, which can be later put through the
Rat Market for a better turnin
- Coins which can be exchanged 26 at a time for a
- These prices convene in three stages based on
Rat Market Saturation (see The Rat Market (Guide) and calculator for exact pricing), resulting in the following totals:
- 5.36 EPA - First threshold (First ~10 items)
- 5.23 EPA - Second threshold (Next ~18 items)
- 5.16 EPA - Last threshold (Any subsequent items)
- Zailing actions were ignored, as was the action cost of entering the Rat Market, since for a large enough quantity, these actions nulify, or at most, slightly lower the EPA by a negligible amount.
