Opening the way to Parabola[edit]

There are two routes into Parabola: as a Silverer, or through University Laboratory research. Both require you to first become A Person of Some Importance; see the associated Guide if you have not yet accomplished this.

Laboratory method[edit]

This way is more expensive in terms of resources, but does not require an advanced Profession.

Silverer method[edit]

This way costs fewer resources, though it requires a Profession that may be difficult to acquire.

Sourcing items for the journey to Parabola[edit]

Depending on how early in the game you undertake this quest, you may find it difficult to gather the necessary supplies. The pages linked under "(sources)" after each listed item describe the best methods. If you need more help, however...

Memory of Light is part of the cross-conversion carousel. If you have 50 of any of these items, you can side-convert them along the carousel, stopping at Memories of Light. This also means that, if you have an efficient source for any of the lower-tier items that upconvert to carousel items (e.g., Primordial Shrieks convert to Maniac's Prayers convert to Correspondence Plaques), you can grind these, upconvert, and then side-convert to Memories of Light. If you're using the Silverer method to enter Parabola, the carousel is also a good way to grind Making Waves (Guide) to raise your Notability.

Cellars of Wine are relatively easy to obtain so long as the card The Calendrical Confusion of 1899 remains in circulation, as this gives a Cellar of Wine and some additional bottles in exchange for the very grindable 1250 x Shard of Glim (sources). If you've managed to acquire 25 x Bottle of Broken Giant 1844 and have 1 x Favours: The Church, you can trade them for 5 Cellars.
