Before you Begin[edit]

Find Mr. Inch in the Labyrinth of Tigers to finish A Name Scrawled in Blood and set Making Progress in the Labyrinth of Tigers to 3.
Go back to the first coil and do Odd jobs in the Labyrinth to get The Hunt is On! to 7 so you can unlock Meeting a junior keeper. (See The Hunt is On! (Guide) for more details.)
Do the same thing several more times. Eventually you will get Making Progress up to 16.

Catching the livestock[edit]

A Somnolent Hyaena may be found In the Labyrinth of Tigers, Navigating Coil 2. You need 100 Drop of Prisoner's Honey and Nightmares 5 to catch it. (By the way, there is also a useful action on the Hyaena's storylet that reduces Nightmares.)

Swift Zee-Clipper saves one action over

Monster-Hunter saves approximately 0.6 actions on average, thanks to Make a daring approach. 14.4 actions is for a Monster Hunter with a Clipper, 18 is the expected for non-Monster Hunters with a Rusty Tramp Steamer. If you happened to be in Stormbones anyway, it takes 5.4-6 actions.

The Rubbery Hound is FATE-locked and may be found in Flute Street. According to the Fate policy, only mechanical rewards regarding the Hound may be recorded on the wiki.

Ways to breed, and the results[edit]

You can work at raising one, two, or all three of the following 3 Progress qualities ( Thwarting Beastly Devils, Taming the Beast and The Hunt is On!) to 6 in order to breed your beast. The different combinations will give different results for a total of 7 possible results from any one animal! For increasing The Hunt is On! one may also use options in Wolfstack Docks. Getting a progress quality to 6 takes 7 actions with 100% on the hardest options.

You will also need access to Flute Street for the Rubbery Hound. Once all beasts are bred, you may breed a Bifurcated Owl by using 500 x Page of Cryptopalaeontological Notes in your lodgings.

Bound in Diocesan Intrigue[edit]

Once you have bred the Obdurate Stallion, you will unlock an opportunity card in London that will grant one point of Bound in Diocesan Intrigue. This in turn will unlock a series of opportunity cards in London that each grant +1 CP of the trait upon successfully completing them. Some of these have unique options with Caught Up in a Soldier's Heartbreaking Tale 8 or Cultivating an Acquaintance with His Amused Lordship 3. Upon reaching Bound in Diocesan Intrigue 5, you will unlock a final opportunity card that gives you four options to conclude the story. None have direct material rewards, but each may increase various traits, and two grant a unique trait needed to unlock the Destiny of The Instrument. See the list of rewards in Theological Husbandry.
