The Sixth Coil is London's Summer Estival for 2024. It commenced on August 1st.

The Sixth Coil[edit]
Players can assist in the rescue efforts in two ways; supplying materials in the form of unique items, and by entering the coil to explore themselves. Both earn Coilheart Renown, and exploring the Coil can give some items.
Supplying Materials[edit]
Players can supply the Coilheart victors with different items through the storylet Breaking a Gaol, as well as "logistical and interpersonal assistance" (Which does not require any items, but can only be done once), giving different amounts of Coilheart Renown.

- Lead 1 — "Examine the doors to the Sixth Coil" when leaving the Fifth Coil with access to the Fifth Coil, or "Peering at Locked Doors" anywhere in the Labyrinth of Tigers without.
- Lead 2 — "Raise the subject of the Sixth Coil" during Tea with the Bishop in the Fourth Coil.
- Lead 3 — "Ply the Tiger Keeper for information about the Sixth Coil" when Bartering with the Tiger Keeper in the First Coil. Costs 10 x Appalling Secrets.
- Lead 4 — "What might be found in the Sixth Coil?" when asking Mr. Inch where notable beasts can be found in Wolfstack Docks. Costs 10 x Bottles of Greyfields 1882.
- Lead 5 — "'Persuade' an aide to dredge up the plans for the Labyrinth" at Baseborn and Fowlingpiece in the Bazaar Sidestreets. Costs 1 x Legal Document. Rewards 1 x Blackmail Material in addition to the clue.
- Lead 6 — "Present him with the Case of the Contents of the Sixth Coil" when Working with the Honey-Addled Detective in Moloch Street.
- Lead 7 — "Ask the Clay Coalman about the Labyrinth" when chatting with the Clay Coalman under local gossip in Your Lodgings.

- Lead 1 — "Share the Aquiline Assistant's musings" in the Forgotten Quarter. Free.
- Lead 2 — "The Vault of Impounded Contraband in Concord Square", a new heist from the Flit. Requires finishing a heist.
- Lead 3 — Ask The Precocious Engineer about the machinations of the Eagle Clan" in Khan's Heart. Free.
- Lead 4 — "Scour the archives for mention of stripes" in the Sunken Embassy.
- Lead 5 — "Call in a favour based on your current allegiance" in Begin an intrigue in Khan's Heart. Must be aligned with the Tortoise.
- Lead 6 — A Laboratory investigation starting with "Investigate the properties of the Xanthous Bulb", in Parabola. Requires completing the impounded contraband heist to acquire a Xanthous Bulb, and consumes the bulb.
- Lead 7 — FATE-locked "Speak with a member of the audience" in the Spider Symposium, requires completing The Web of the Motherlings.

- Lead 2 — At the Court of the Wakeful Eye.
- Lead 3 — Your Tigress, in Parabola (or the upgraded version) in the Parabolan Base-Camp. Requires Parabolan Defences 3.

- Lead 4 — Contact Surface smugglers in Balmoral, near the Dumbwaiter.
- Lead 5 — Finish a game at the Moonlit Chessboard and resign.
- Lead 6 — Speak to The Foreign Office after you help them out for a cycle.
- Lead 7 — FATE-locked Find a student at Sinning Jenny's Finishing School.

Recurring Dreams: the Forests of the Night[edit]
A set of silver-bordered opportunity cards has appeared in the deck, increasing a new recurring dream about predators in the jungle. Begins with A Dream of Wanting and leads to a clue in round 6.

Entrepreneurs and Opportunism[edit]
Before the games began, the storylet Entrepreneurs and Opportunism would offer a number of options that paid out based on your Attributes. Each challenge was 80% of a particular Attribute or Advanced Skill (rounded to the nearest ten in the case of the latter). Rewards were based on the total of your Attributes.

Strategy[edit]
Late Game
With Max gear, the default action should be guaranteed, so we can assume 414 Renown/Action as the baseline.
If you have access to Parabola for Casing..., and you're making the maximum of 1010 x Coilheart Renown, then you gain 28 CP Casing... in ~4 actions, and 2.8 actions to cash in should gain you a total of 415.9 Renown/Action. This must be done in bulk, to negate the cost of moving to and from the parabola. This is marginally better than the default action. Of course, if you don't yet have the base stats for the max 414 Renown from the default action (perhaps from only being partway through the Railway story), then this is obviously better, just stock up on Shadowy second chances if you feel lucky with taking 2 ~50% coinflips in the hopes of only having to spend 3 actions for your casing, and spend Gazettes and Dream qualities liberally when you don't wish to spend your second chances unless you somehow have enough Glasswork items to 100% the check for scouting.
The lab option takes 1 action to start, 1 action to finish, and 1 action to turn in, plus the time it takes to accumulate a total of 550 Total Lab Research Required. This would require 91.66 Research/action to be comparable, which is not possible, and so is the worst option for Coilheart Renown. That said, the lab option does also grant 1 x Searing Enigma. If this is taken as being worth 6250 x Coilheart Renown (The going rate of Renown), then You only need to average 26.5 Research/Action in order to break even with other options. This option can only be considered good if you somehow do not have access to Parabolan Casing but can get at least somewhat close to that average 26.5 Research/Action rate.

Unique Items[edit]
After the Tournament of the Body ended, players were able to discuss your recent scramble for leads to obtain Huffam's Personal Blend, a weapon giving +5 Watchful and +1 Dreaded. Those who advanced past that storylet without getting the Blend can collect it on Breaking a Gaol.
In Mr Huffam's Good Graces is obtainable by any player who submitted seven or more clues to Mr Huffam.
After sealing the Sixth Coil and attending as a guest of honour to a meeting with the Banded Prince, you will obtain Half-Devoured Heart, a Home Comfort that provides +1 Chthonosophy. As Estival winds down, one of three unique mementos can be selected: Parietal Kingscale (The imprisoned Seventh Coil, and its consort), 'The Maze of Coiled Hearts', volumes 1-3, or Coilheart Games 1899 Commemorative Archway (The glories of the Coilheart Games).
Estival Tokens[edit]
Players receive 30 Estival Tokens to spend on Estival exclusive items each year, with additional tokens available by spending FATE. The Estival Item Comparison guide provides lists of both new and returning items, ranked by their stats and usefulness elsewhere in the game.
Vanity Qualities[edit]
Pursuing leads for leads for Mr Huffam increases the quality An Investigative Journalist:, which maxes out at 21 leads given. Although more than enough leads are available to those who have not spent FATE to achieve the max quality, players early in the game may not be able to access every area for leads. One requires being restored to Court and three require a fully developed station at Balmoral, with two of those additionally requiring a fully developed Khaganian Network.
Those that attract the attention of a judge can exchange 15,000 Coilheart Renown for +1 CP Acquaintance: the Captivating Princess, +1 CP One Who Has Indulged in Unknown Pleasures, as well as a Dreadful Surmise, so long as you don’t already have any Acquaintance: the Captivating Princess.
On Breaking a Gaol, one way to contribute to the rescue/containment effort is to gather and submit one of five special items (or Render logistical and interpersonal assistance) to increase Planning for the Coil's Heart. It's not necessary to do this more than once to get a unique reward, but it's possible to contribute up to five times to raise the vanity quality Coilbreaker:.
